After 8 minutes the Toon had seen Dabizas sent off and the visitors take a 2-0 lead both goals scored by England midfielder David Dunn. However, Shearer's double dragged 10-man
Newcastle back into the game scoring from the spot in the first half and a stunning header in the opening minutes of the second half. This was all in vain as Taylor scored 2 and Andy Griffin scoring an own goal
which, gave the home side a deserved three points.
